Ohhhh Wii...

The Wii, I've decided, is out to get me. First off, last week, the Wii asked me how my pregnant wife looked (she's also set up on the Wii Fit.) The problem was that it gave me options of "Slimmer" (which with the baby belly technically she's not), "Bigger" (we all know how that one would turn out, "The same" (which, she has thinned out in some places - this was the option I chose). Regardless, NONE of these options were designed to create a healthy relationship... fie on you Wii!! Second, the Wii called me fat... as I detailed in my last post. So the Wii and I are still locking horns as today, it stated that I GAINED 2 pounds and made my Mii character fat, replete with the WHAA WHAA WHAAA sound. Not happy. 201 is the number of the week and it's not helping that because my daughter is home, I can't go out for my walk in the morning. My issues with actually losing the weight are two-fold: food choices and lack of exercise. While I walk 3 miles a day, I'm not doing any weightlifting or true cardio. I think I need to fire up the P90X and really get moving on it. The last time I did it, I did the first DVD and then fell off the wagon. I know myself and if I get into a routine, I'll stick with it. As soon as I'm off the routine, I'm off it and it takes some time for me to get back on track. It starts today! Second is that I've been making some really bad food decisions. White Rice, French Bread, Ice Cream, Pancakes... they've all been on the board of fare lately and they're dooming my diet. My tactic for this week is to get moving, eat more regular meals and be careful about what I eat. In addition... WATER!! I've not been drinking enough and I think it's having a contributory affect on my weight gain... Well, until next week! Hopefully there will be less of me!

No weight but a bit of progress

Short post this week. But I had a few breakthroughs...
1. Stopped eating like crap... for the most part... Epic fail on a french bread sandwich of Nutella & the pride of Lynn, MA FLUFFERNUTTER!! Other than that, pretty healthy overall. Small consistent meals packed with protein. Could use to up my fiber content and water intake.
2. Actually ran for a quarter mile today during my 3 mile walk.
3. Feeling better. Putting on the pounds actually makes you tired... there's more of you to carry around and I'm starting to get some energy back.

Will have an official Wii Weight for you tomorrow AM.

Best of luck out there!

Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad

Hmmm... it would appear that I've not been as focused as I could have been on my weight loss. The proof is in the pudding... I'm currently at the highest weight I've ever been... the bathroom scale shows almost 200lbs. Not good on a 5'8" frame... I've decided that my issues again largely are caused by sloth and impulsiveness. For me, what its going to take is setting out my meals in advance. My snacks seem to already be in a good place, either pre-packaged cheese or yogurt or better yet fruit. The problem comes when temptation is in the house, cake for example has been the most prevalent as my birthday, my daughter, sister and father's birthdays are all right around this time of yet.
In the good news column... I've started walking every day. I've mapped out a route of 3 miles and while I'm not breaking any land speed records, I am moving for about an hour every day. Also, I found a GREAT website for the Nintendo Wii that maps out exercise routines. My issue with the Wii is that it doesn't give you a whole ton of guidance as to what you should be doing. The website posted below creates an entire routine for you. I think that ramping this up to a 30 - 45 minute routine and coupling it with a diet that isn't designed to kill me should help. The next post I do will be next week and I'll be using the Wii as my weight measurement tool as it allows me to track. My other idea is to keep a food log which I'll share with you as well.

8/3/10:
Height: 5ft. 8in.
Weight: 198lbs
BMI: 30.1 - Just crossed into obese territory... thanks a ton there point one...
Goal weight - 165lbs

Goals for the week:
1. Track food intake
2. Increase activity - Wii fit starting with 15 minute workouts after my daily constitutional
3. Water Water Water... I've been drinking too much diet soda lately. Not good. Studies have shown that you're almost better off drinking the regular sugared variety
4. Weight loss: 3 lbs (starting small with the intent of feeling rewarded...)

Well rehab is for quitters and relapses happen! (thank you Lindsay L for showing that dreams are indeed possible.)
To all out there working to make yourselves better, good luck!!
